peach turnover

Ingredients:

  • 2 large peaches
  • 6 puff pastry squares
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • ¼ teaspoon powdered cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon ginger powder
  • 1 teaspoon canola oil or any neutral flavored oil
  • Powdered sugar for garnishing

Directions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 200℃ (around 400℉).
  2. Thinly slice the peaches.
  3. Mix cinnamon powder and ginger powder in a bowl and keep it aside.
  4. Line a baking tray with a baking sheet.
  5. Spread around 2 teaspoons of honey on a corner of the baking sheet.
  6. Place peach slices on top.
  7. Drizzle some more honey on top of the peaches.
  8. Sprinkle some cinnamon and ginger powder mixture.
  9. Cover with a puff pastry square and gently press. Seal the edges by pressing with a fork.
  10. Brush the puff pastry with some oil.
  11. Repeat the above step with all the remaining puff pastry squares.
  12. Prick each puff pastry square at 2-3 places using a fork.
  13. Bake in a preheated oven at 200℃(or 400℉) for 18 to 20 minutes i.e. until the puff pastry turns golden brown.
  14. Take out the baking tray and allow reaching room temperature.
  15. Once the puff pastries reach room temperature, flip them over with the help of a spatula.
  16. Sprinkle some powdered sugar on top.

Notes:

  • Cut the peaches into thin slices.
  • Instead of peaches, you can also use other fruits like nectarines, apples, pineapples, and plums in this recipe.
  • Maple syrup or agave syrup can be used too in place of honey.
  • Adding powdered sugar is optional, you can also skip it.
  • These peach upside-down puff pastries can also be flavored with other ingredients like vanilla extract, almond extract, cloves powder, fresh ginger, nutmeg, etc.
  • Allow the baked puff pastries to reach room temperature before flipping them over otherwise they will break.
